Alberta Rose Theatre
After over 20 years of being closed to the public, the Alberta Rose Theatre has reemerged as one of Portland’s premier settings for acoustic music, art house films and live performances.
They’ve started up a series showcasing neighborhood bands called “There Goes the Neighborhood”, and we’ve been invited to play this Saturday night. Come check out this gorgeous new venue, and bring a friend for free with this handy 2-For-1 Coupon.
We’re 3rd on the bill, and our set starts around 10:00pm.

White Eagle
Join us the last Saturday of the month at one of our favorite pubs, McMenamin’s White Eagle Saloon. I’ve been told this is one of Portland’s oldest bars and that it used to be a destination of Portland’s infamous Shanghai Tunnels. I’ve also been told it’s haunted. Best of all, they serve baskets of these really great deep fried mini-corndogs. Mmm… mini-corndogs…
We’re playing a rollicking set, joined by the old-timey force-to-be-reckoned-with Scott McDougall and indie rock trio Rozendal.

My good friend
Joel Bock is an awesome photographer, and he took some great shots of our first recording session last fall. We were recording drums at The Woods, a new venue in Portland that used to be a funeral chapel.
Here’s a link to some photos from that session. Enjoy!
Also, we’re stoked to be playing some great shows in August at the newly renovated Alberta Rose Theater on Saturday, August 14th as part of their “There Goes the Neighborhood” Alberta bands series, and then on Saturday, August 28th at The White Eagle with Rozendal and Scott McDougal. Hope to see you there!
These past few months the band and I have been working hard on our new record. We finished mixing the first track last week, and I thought I’d give you a preview of what’s in store when we release the album later this year.

Happy 2010! The band and I have been busy rehearsing and laying down tracks for our new album.
In December we spent a day recording drums at The Woods, a new venue in Sellwood that used to be a funeral chapel. The stage is where they used to lay out the bodies for veiwing… pretty creepy, huh? But the acoustics in there are gorgeous, and the high ceiling and wood floors made for some really killer drum sounds. Pun intended.
We’ll be finishing up tracking over the next couple months, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! In the meantime, we’ve got some live shows coming up.
Looking forward to seeing you in an exciting new year.
much love,
-adam
It’s been ages since I released any new music, so I’m thrilled to have a couple new songs up at
myspace.com/adamsweeney
More Than Love and Child of Everyone were recorded by David Fuller who runs Sunroom Portable Studios… ironically located in his dark basement.
The band spent an afternoon tracking these tunes last April, and we finally got around to mixing them. They are perfectly rough around the edges and give a good idea of where we’re going with the new record once we start recording this fall.
That’s Jonathan Behr on drums, Zach Pace on bass, Jeremy Murphin on electric guitar, David Fuller on accordion/electric guitar/percussion/melodica, and Katie Sawicki on vocals and banjo.
We hope you like it! See you at a show sometime soon.
